This impressive project provides new sports and IT teaching facilities at a progressive sixth form college and sets a new vibrant image for the college campus.
The new building, which replaced an earlier outdated gymnasium, provides a multi-use sports hall and changing facilities together with a fitness studio and a suite of IT classrooms. A new external MUGA was constructed adjacent to the new building.
Sustainable design principles and low-energy consumption are integral to the design, with natural light and ventilation where possible, a ground linked cooling system and rainwater harvesting all featuring prominently in the scheme.
Using innovative cross-laminated timber panel technology, the project was delivered ahead of time and under budget without any disruption to the normal functioning of the college.
