This acclaimed project for a south London horticulture charity comprised the demolition of existing rudimentary buildings and the construction of a new training centre upon a backland site within an inner city residential area.
The sustainable design includes unpainted Siberian larch cladding and a planted green roof. Photovoltaic panels on the roof provide at least 60% of the building's electrical requirement, and it's hot water is provided entirely by a small area of solar panels. Rainwater is used to flush the toilets and irrigate the gardens.
