This challenging project comprised the construction of a new changing rooms and clubhouse building within the grounds of Bacon's College providing facilities for both the college and local community using the adjacent regenerated sports fields.
The site is located in the former Surrey Docks area where around 92% of the historic docks were infilled during the 1970's, and therefore the building was designed to sit over landfill material with special measures being required to vent away any methane gas released by the works.
The new building provides changing rooms, clubrooms and ancillary sports teaching accommodation for the college, and includes an external terrace providing fine views across the sports fields with the magnificent buildings of Canary Wharf as its backdrop.
